Goals :

Contribute to improving knowledge on the nutritional and functional value of foods of animal origin also in relation to breeding and feeding systems and the species and breeds raised.

Organize training and information events on the importance of animal derived foods.

Establish collaborative relationships with the medical-scientific sector in order to improve knowledge on the relationships between consumption of animal derived foods and human health.
Activities 2022 2023:
The commission's activity was carried out exclusively remotely.

In 2022 webinar was organized, which included two reports entitled Leonardo Nanni Costa "Pink: The other color of meat. Pork meat: technological characteristics" presented by Prof. Leonardo Nanni “Pink: The other color of meat. Pork meat: nutritional characteristics” presented by Prof. Francesca Danesi. The webinar had an excellent result in terms of participation with peaks of 90-100 participants.

A further dissemination activity in 2022 concerned participation in dissemination activities via the ASPA social channels with the collaboration of Dr. Martha Pulina. Several posts have been published on social channels regarding the following topics: correct nutritional education, the nutritional role of meat, the links between the production of foods of animal origin and food safety, the new concepts of quality of foods of animal origin.

In 2023 a webinar held by Professor Concetta Messina of the University of Palermo which included a report entitled "Quality of fish products and human health: the contribution of aquaculture to the "one health" strategy was organized. The webinar had an excellent result in terms of participation with peaks of 90-100 participants.

A further dissemination activity in 2023 concerned participation in dissemination activities via ASPA's social channels with the collaboration of Dr. Martha Pulina. Various posts have been published on social channels regarding the following topics: correct nutritional education, the nutritional role of meat; cell-based meat, what is known and what is not yet known but should be known before authorizing consumption; the Dublin Declaration of Scientists on the Social Role of Animal Husbandry.
